  • Every Child Can! (ECC) is an introduction to Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy and its application to Suzuki education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers, and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning.

    Every Child Can! is an 8 hour course. This course must be offered over two (2) days. GWSI will offer this course virtually through zoom on June 16-17, 2022.
  • Course must be offered over a minimum of 8 days. Minimum of 28 hours of class time (lecture and
    demonstration), to include a suggested 2 hours of guided observation and discussion of
    the Trainer’s own home studio students, either live, by video, or a combination.

    This course will be offered virtually through Zoom on June 18, 25 & 26 and in person/virtually June 20-24 so teacher participants may observe live lessons at GWSI online or in person. Weekend times TBA, Weekday times will be scheduled between 8:15 am and 4:00 pm EST.

  • This is a 10 hour SAA approved supplemental course that will meet from 4pm - 6pm June 20 - 24, 2022 in person and online. Course description--Book Four to Mendelssohn, Can it be Done?
    From Intermediate to Advanced Violinist
    Technical and Musical Ideas
    How to incorporate them into the Suzuki environment

    This course will look at the intermediate violinist who is finishing Suzuki book four and discuss what skills they currently have, what they need to continue to develop at an advanced pace, and how to become an advanced violinist performing at the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto level.

    Topics include: advanced tonalizations, pitch placement, incorporating group class and violin chamber music, micro-phrasing, musical sensitivity and imagination, rhythmic integrity, rote approach to technical development of the right hand and left hand, how and when to use supplemental pieces, what can/cannot be learned technically and musically from the upper Suzuki literature, and creating a self-driven positive learner. Also, discussions of how we as teachers can ensure a total environment that includes all areas of development the student needs to become a complete violinist and musician.
  • This is a 10 hour virtual SAA approved course on Zoom from 7pm - 9pm June 20 - 24.
  • This is a 10 hour SAA approved virtual course offered on Zoom 7pm - 9pm June 20 - 24, 2022. This course will focus on Inclusive Group Teaching Strategies.
  • Teachers who would like to observe student classes may register as an observer. Observers may attend parent lectures, recitals, student master classes & repertoire classes. Observers may not attend any Unit book classes or Enrichment classes.
